Complex Bowel Care Support

This course is designed for support workers under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) to enhance their skills in providing complex bowel care. You will learn the importance of bowel health, assessment techniques, and individualised care planning, while gaining practical strategies to support clients effectively and respectfully.

By the end of the course, support workers will be able to assess individual needs, implement tailored bowel care plans, and promote client independence within their scope of practice. They will also be equipped to recognise signs of potential complications and respond appropriately. Key topics include bowel anatomy, common disorders, effective communication and nutritional considerations.
